News on Secure Coding Trainings

Join our next webinar session on secure coding

Due to the number of requests we received recently, we are launching a new round of our popular live webinars in April and May 2012. Next event is scheduled to 26th April at 9:30am CEST/Europe (3:30pm China/CST, 1pm India/IST). Enroll now to secure your place on the event!

The subject primarily targets managers, but is also useful to any professional who wants to acquire basic knowledge in the area of secure coding.

The 1.5-hour-long instructor-led presentation introduces common security concepts, and gives a comprehensive overview on secure coding by demonstrating the effects of various flaws without going deeply into technical details. Participants will be introduced into some of the typical vulnerabilities of various development platforms, and will learn how to fight against these flaws to decrease the security risks affecting the success of any software development projects.

Strategic co-operation with MAVE

SEARCH-LAB Secure Coding Academy and MAVE (Electrical Engineering Students' Hungarian Association) started a strategic co-operation in delivering trainings to Hungarian college and university students.

MAVE has more than 25 years history organizing anything from single presentations to longer series of studying courses by industrial companies for electrical engineering and computer science college and university students. SEARCH-LAB takes great pride in being a spin-off company from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and has a strong background of teaching both semester-long full credit academic courses and 2-4-day highly practical industrial trainings to corporate development teams. In the agreed strategic co-operation MAVE takes on to bring together interested students from Hungarian universities and colleges to a wide range of SEARCH-LAB's presentations and courses, which will on the other hand be specifically tailored to the interests and needs of the student audience. The first presentation will be held in May 2012, followed by a set of longer courses planned for the autumn semester of the 2012/2013 academic year.

SEARCH-LAB Academy launched PHP secure coding course

Continuous development of our training materials resulted in a new 3-day-long course on PHP security. Analogously to our other courses, this new one also deals both with architectural issues of PHP from security point of view and with vulnerabilities relevant to this technology.

Usage of various APIs, environment hardening, client-side technologies, as well as the presented web- and PHP-relevant vulnerabilities are demonstrated through a number of hands-on exercises through which participants will not only acquire secure coding practices in PHP, but will also fully understand the root-causes of the presented problems.

Request our newest secure coding course for your development groups to avoid all security pitfalls of PHP and secure your web-based software!

Please check the course page of Secure Coding in PHP to learn more.

SEARCH-LAB attended ANIKETOS trainings

ANIKETOS - "Secure and Trustworthy Composite Services" held its third project meeting in Pisa on 15-17 February. The meeting was attended by representatives of all 17 industrial and research organizations forming the ANIKETOS consortium. The focus of the meeting was on finalizing the architectural design of the future ANIKETOS platform.

The Pisa meeting also included a training day (spread over 4 sessions) that introduced project partners to the modeling formalisms and tools that will serve as a basis to define the trust of service composition in the project. SEARCH-LAB – as the leader of the "Tutorials and Trainings" work package – co-organized this event, and provided the framework for holding the sessions.
